A Grounded Approach to therapy

Depth-Oriented & Gestalt Therapy

My work brings together depth-oriented therapy and Gestalt therapy, which both focus on helping you understand yourself more fully in the present moment, while also exploring the deeper layers of your experience.

Rather than focusing only on talking about problems, we pay attention to what is happening as you speak — your emotions, body sensations, patterns in how you relate, and what feels present in the moment. Gestalt therapy supports this by gently bringing awareness to “what is happening now,” including how past experiences may be showing up in current feelings or relationships.

Alongside this, depth-oriented work invites us to explore what sits beneath the surface — the less visible parts of your experience, such as long-standing emotional patterns, protective responses, dreams, imagery, or feelings that are difficult to put into words. This can sometimes feel like connecting with the deeper layers of the mind and emotional life, and what might be described as your more authentic or essential self.

We don’t rush this process or try to force meaning. Instead, we stay curious and work with whatever emerges in a grounded and supported way.

Together, these approaches offer a space where both immediate experience and deeper understanding can be gently explored, helping you move towards greater awareness, integration, and ease within yourself.

Nature-Connective Therapy

Working in this way can help to slow things down and create space to notice what is happening internally, without pressure of the clinical settling often found within counselling.

Sessions take place either inside a cosy room overlooking a small lake or outdoors both integrating the natural environment around you.

When we are within nature it becomes an active part of the therapeutic space. A third presents. Offering a grounded insight and different quality of self awareness.

This approach is not about escaping into nature, but about using presence and environment to deepen the connection with yourself.

Nature-Connected therapy is grounded in the belief that healing and understanding can emerge though the relationship- with self, with another person, and a wide living world around us.

I offer a free initial session (up to 30-minute session)

A relaxed no-pressure space to talk, ask questions, and see if we feel like the right fit.
