Nature-connected counselling and outdoor therapy in a private lakeside setting near Wells, Somerset.
Here, nature is part of the room. Sessions take place in Panborough, just outside Wells, in a quiet space overlooking a small lake and its wildlife.
You don’t need to walk anywhere or think of yourself as an outdoors person. Nature is simply there, and we let it be part of the work.

What is therapy in nature?
Therapy in nature, sometimes called outdoor therapy, nature therapy or ecotherapy, is counselling that takes place in a natural setting rather than a clinical room.
My work brings together integrative counselling, Gestalt therapy and depth-orientated practice. In nature, the surroundings add something of their own. I think of it as a third presence, alongside you and me. It can bring a slower pace and a different kind of awareness.
This is not about escaping into nature. It is about letting the setting help you notice what is happening inside you, with calm and ease, and a deeper sense of connection.
What happens in a session?
Most sessions are held inside, in a cosy room with views of the lake and trees. In the colder months a log fire keeps it warm. There are birds all round, and often wildlife on the water.

Each session begins with a few moments of connecting with the surroundings. Then we talk, and we pay attention to what is happening as you speak: your feelings, what you notice in your body, and what is happening between us.
If you would like to, we can include a short meditation.
There is also outside decking, more open to the elements, for days when the weather suits and you would like to be closer to the outdoors. We decide together whether to use it.
Sessions last 60 minutes.
Who is it for?
Therapy in nature may suit you if:
- a traditional therapy room feels too formal or too intense
- you find it easier to talk with something to look at
- you feel more like yourself outdoors
- you would like to slow down
I work with adults and young people aged 14 and over. You don’t need any experience of therapy, or of nature work, to begin.
What about the weather?
Most sessions take place inside, so the weather doesn’t stop us. Through autumn and winter the fire is lit, and the lake is still there to look out on.
On warmer, drier days we can use the decking, or step outside if you would like to. It is always your choice.
Walk and talk therapy: when it feels supportive
Some people find it easier to talk side by side while walking. I offer walk and talk sessions when it suits everyone and feels supportive of the therapeutic process.
The setting does its work whether we are walking or sitting still. If you are curious about it, mention it when we first speak.
Where is it?
Sessions are held at a private location in Panborough, just outside the city of Wells, on the Somerset Levels. It is about 15 minutes’ drive from both Wells and Glastonbury.
There is plenty of parking, just a few steps from the room.
If travelling isn’t possible for you, I also offer counselling online and by telephone, across the UK. Online sessions don’t take place outdoors, but they offer the same care and attention.
I also offer home visits within 6 miles of the therapy room.
How much does it cost, and how do I book?
- Your first session is free, up to 30 minutes, by phone or online. It is a relaxed, no-pressure chance to talk, ask questions and see if we feel like the right fit.
- Sessions after that are 60 minutes and cost £50.
- A reduced fee of £35 to £45 is available to support your circumstances. Please do ask.
- Home visits within 6 miles cost an extra £30, after an assessment first. The reduced fee doesn’t apply to home visits.
